vte-0.28.1-r200 has just become stable on x86. After updating vte terminal-0.4.6 becomes slow and consumes much cpu power even when idle. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a terminal. 2. Make it larger (for greater effect). Actual Results: Check cpu consumption with top. Terminal and X are consuming a great deal. Expected Results: Terminal should consume close to 0% cpu power. Updating to x11-terms/terminal-0.4.8 seems to fix the problem. I haven't tested on amd64 as vte-0.28.1-r200 is not yet stable on amd64.
Confirming same bahavior here on stable x86. Upgrading x11-terms/terminal to 0.4.8 fixed the issue.

Please stabilize latest terminal if possible then
0.4.7 works too, but .8 is required for gtk+-2.24 anyway, so let's go for that. do you want to handle it in the security bug? if not, feel free to CC arches.
as discussed on IRC, arches please mark stable terminal-0.4.8

if terminal 0.4.8 is not ready for stable then 0.4.6 I believe could be fixed by applying this patch from upstream: https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6921#c9
