This looks very much like bug 324631 has come back. If I open an XFCE terminal or two I get nearly 100% CPU load to "X" and seconds of delay between key press and the character appearing. Close all XFCE terminals and use xterm instead and all is hunky dory.

 x11-libs/vte is at  0.28.1-r200
 x11-terms/terminal is at  0.4.6


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install XFCE terminal at latest version
2. Use it

Actual Results:  
It's horribly slow and hogs the CPU

Expected Results:  
Uses minimal CPU and responds fast
