Description Daniel Black (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-20 23:54:32 UTC
This lists all the bugs to be fixed before or tested on the liveCD before its release 2005.0 from a PPC perspective.
Comment 1 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-21 04:18:17 UTC
Did you mean to include all of the AMD64 bugs?

If not, I'll remove them.
Comment 2 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-05 20:07:17 UTC
Bugs I've removed and the reason why:

58178 - I've not seen this replicated on ppc
59181 - Already fixed in 2004.3
59565 - Alpha related, and should be fixed in newer livecds
63157 - This doesn't matter on ppc as the boot method is different
65113 - Not bootcd related
70742 - VMWare doesn't run on ppc
71537 - Not a ppc bug
72334 - Not a ppc liveCD bug
72418 - Not a ppc liveCD bug
72661 - Not a ppc liveCD bug
74264 - Not a ppc liveCD bug
74513 - Grub not used on ppc
74808 - Cyrix machines don't boot ppc liveCDs

There are probably more we can remove.
Comment 3 Philippe Trottier (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-20 23:34:34 UTC
These are not my beer but I noticed that:

60422 Not an IDE we can use
60466 AMD64
58440 x86 DELL 220

If someone sends me an OK, I'll remove them.
Comment 4 Philippe Trottier (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-21 00:41:06 UTC
Removed previously mentioned bugs ...
Comment 5 Lars Weiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-23 14:54:16 UTC
ppc does not depend on kudzu on LiveCDs.
Comment 6 Lars Weiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-23 17:00:11 UTC
So, some more updates on the dependencies of this bug, currently only for ppc32. I ask one of the ppc64 maintainers to look on the ppc64 bugs.

#58336: There is no Selinux-LiveCD for ppc
#61198: already resolved
#62684: not really a ppc issue
#63936: x86 only
#66789: amd64 only
#66802: same as last bug
#66826: grub bug; not a ppc thing
#67468: alpha bug
#67960: resolved
#68970: resolved
#71248: resolved
#71248: needs to be verified
#71950: x86-only driver
#72055: the tmscsim module is on the LiveCD, but I guess we have very few testers on ppc
#72407: seems to be supported by the ppc LiveCD
#72836: not resolved yet
#72928: consolesettings are appended at least to the Pegasos-kernel, as this is IMHO the only ppc with a usual serial out currently (but I didn't tested yet)
#73256: added to the LiveCD's kernel
#73411: rp-pppoe is included on the LiveCD
#73412: handbook is still in the wrong path
#74045: via-rhine modules are included in the kernel
#74074: x86 issue
#74169: x86 module
#74362: amd64 bug
#74514: coldplug is stable now
#74758: noload= should also apply on ppc
#74859: parted-1.6.15 is included on the LiveCD, so a rather old version. We should make sure for 2005.1 that a very current, but stable version will be included
#75060: splashutils-thing; nothing for the 2005.0 LiveCD
#75721: a lot more ethernet modules are included
#76203: all nls options are now included
#76346: needs to be tested with the newer yaboot on the LiveCD
Comment 7 Philippe Trottier (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-23 22:12:58 UTC
I bug I would say is present, the /lib/udev-date/devices.tar.bz2 doesn't contain any raid devices and will requier some rebooting or use of livecd to correct it. Not for the faint of heart.

Now looking if there is old bugs related to this.
Comment 8 Philippe Trottier (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-23 22:20:48 UTC
I would suggest adding this bug to the list.
bug #86468.
Comment 9 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-09-13 07:51:30 UTC
2005.1 has been released and the bugs on this have been closed, so I'm closing
this bug.
