This bug will be used to track all packages that must be stabilized before GCC 4.7. - Please file a NEW bug for each package that needs to be stabilized and have it BLOCK this one. - The bug should be assigned to the maintainer of the package. Please do not CC gcc-porting - we get enough mail on these things. - DO NOT use this bug for any problems with GCC itself. Instead, file a NEW bug describing your issue and it will be assigned by a bug wrangler. Thanks.
Done filing bugs.
Is this waiting for remaining bugs blocking https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=390247 or for other stabilizations? Thanks for the info :)
The bugs blocking bug 390247 should be fixed or treecleaned, but most are old by now and not seeing any action. There's still some stabilization going on though so we'll ping the stragglers and CC arches soon.
Arches please stabilize sys-devel/gcc-4.7.3-r1. In addition to your usual checks, please ensure gcc 4.7 can rebuild itself and also build other versions (ie. try building 4.6 with 4.7). Alpha, we might have to apply the LDFLAGS patch we needed for 4.6. Let me know.
(In reply to Ryan Hill from comment #4) > In addition to your usual checks, please ensure gcc 4.7 can rebuild itself > and also build other versions I build all 4.x version of gcc. 4.1.2 fails to compile, is that a blocker for this? I guess no
No, but thanks for being thorough. To go that far back you need to do it in steps, switching to older compilers as you go.
amd64 stable
Tested here on armv7, hardfloat and softfp, no issues recompiling @system, @world and 4.6.3. armv7 uclibc hardened hardfloat also seems fine (but I'm no hardened expert)
ppc stable

ppc64 stable

Is this hardfloat or softfloat? Hardfloat support wasn't added til 4.5 iirc, so hardfloat on armv7 definitely won't work with 4.4 or 4.3
alpha stable
Stable for HPPA.

(In reply to Ryan Hill from comment #15) > I don't think so but I'll let the arm team decide. as discussed with Steev on irc, it is not a regression.
arm stable
x86 stable
sparc stable
marked ia64 stable
(In reply to SpanKY from comment #20) > marked ia64 stable Looks like bug 437508 was missed for ia64 :/
