Please bump
Yup, please bump.
Hi fellows, I just bumped this in the science overlay. Please test ! There are a few issues including -) some failed tests during the build (which don't stop upstreams build process however) -) An internal copy of gcl -) Not respecting flags
Bumped to 201009 in the science-overlay. The issue with the bundled gmp in the bundled dev-lisp/gcl is fully resolved, i.e. This package will build an internal copy of gmp-4 if you have only gmp-5 installed. Therefore it is not keyworded at the moment.
(In reply to comment #3) Argh > bundled dev-lisp/gcl is fully resolved, i.e. This package will build an ^-- *not*
new version of axiom is released. Still no release of gcl :(

If someone could notify upstream. Unfortunately I don't use the software anymore, I'm purely into the IT department.
(In reply to comment #7) > If someone could notify upstream. Unfortunately I don't use the software > anymore, I'm purely into the IT department. Last fall I've talked to upstream extensively about this. They are helpful, but in the end they don't see bundling software as a problem. They also don't see the non-releases of gcl as a problem. The axiom developer and the "gcl-upstream" know each other and exchange patches. There is some gcl development, just no releases, except in the form of "bundled with axiom".
There is new version available - from May 2011 http://axiom-developer.org/axiom-website/downloads/axiom-may2011-src.tgz
There is an updated version - from May 2017 http://axiom-developer.org/axiom-website/downloads/axiom-may2017-src.tgz
This ebuild it seems can be used as a draft for more updated version of axiom.
Sorry, forgot the link https://cgit.freedesktop.org/~cloos/overlay/tree/sci-mathematics/axiom/axiom-201205.ebuild
