Last time I tried to bump axiom it lead straight into desaster.
The problem is that it builds on gnu common lisp which has not seen releases for 6 years.  axiom ships an internal copy of gcl with many patches.  That internal copy ships an internal copy of gmp which is unacceptable for the main tree.
you can find axiom-201009 in the science overlay.
