Look at bug 290062 for more information
openh323 has been forked to opal and h323plus. h323plus tries to follow openh323 way of doing things while opal is changing a lot of things. Now, openh323 is abandoned. We should use h323plus (or opal ?) instead of openh323 but we need to get the package in the tree before. I'm not sure opal can be a valid replacement but we can check for each packages.
List of packages dependnig on net-libs/openh323: net-misc/asterisk-1.2.32:h323 net-misc/asterisk-1.2.35:h323 net-misc/asterisk-1.6.1.6:h323 net-voip/gnugk-2.2.5 net-voip/gnugk-2.2.7 net-voip/gnugk-2.2.8 net-voip/openmcu-2.2.0 net-voip/openmcu-2.2.1 net-voip/yate-1.2.0:h323 net-voip/yate-1.3.0:h323 net-voip/yate-2.0.0:h323
Fixed ebuild of asterisk will have to be stabilized.
I look forward to opal being integrated. However, there *is* a version-bump of openh323 seen here, 1.19.0.1: http://sourceforge.net/projects/openh323/files/openh323/ You can see from here: https://issues.asterisk.org/view.php?id=17679#124893 that *someone* solved their openh323 + asterisk issue by bumping to (debian's) libbopenh323-1.19.1-dev . So, can we get net-libs/openh323 bumped until a better solution is worked out? Thanks.
chithanh masked them (not sure for what time)
I didn't send last rites announcement yet because the replacement h323plus does not build against modern ptlib (bug 474736). Removal will be 30 days after announcement.
H323Plus and all applications depending on it (eg. GnuGk) will only build with PTLib 2.10.x. PTLib 2.10.11 just came out 4 weeks ago. This probably won't change anytime soon, since there were major changes in PTLib, OPAL and its applications (eg. Ekiga) need PTLib 2.12.x. I would suggest to have separate packages for ptlib-2-10 and ptlib-2-12 to be able to have both H323Plus and OPAL based applications.
