dev-libs/pwlib has to be removed (look at bug 290062) so asterisk-1.2* and asterisk-1.6* ebuilds should be updated accordingly. It's very likely asterisk-1.6 will work with ptlib easily but it's not sure for asterisk-1.2. You can consider dropping the H323 USE flag if needed. net-misc/asterisk-1.2.32:h323 net-misc/asterisk-1.2.35:h323 net-misc/asterisk-1.6.1.6:h323
net-libs/openh323 which is *also* a dependency for H323 operation still requires pwlib instead of ptlib. The overall handling of the h323 ebuild looks a crisis in the making as well. Agreed, I will drop the USE-flag.
Exactly, that's why I'm also going to remove openh323 for h323plus or opal. The first one need to be added to the tree and i'm workin on it. Take a look to bug 290063. h323plus should work with asterisk. Waiting for h323plus (at least for 1.6* serie) may be better than USE-flag dropping.

As requested by Mounir "volkmar" Lamouri in bug + #290065. 1.6.1.6-r1 already dropped it from the 1.6.1 branch. Do feel free to file me a stable bug for 1.2.35-r1 in 30 days.
