Created attachment 103847 [details] Ebuild File Small ebuild works for me
Created attachment 103977 [details] ebuild File for gscan2pdf Slightly beautified ebuild.
Created attachment 106678 [details] gscan2pdf-0.8.7.ebuild New version available, I placed it in app-text/gscan2pdf
Created attachment 106694 [details] gscan2pdf-0.8.7.ebuild I have added one dependency which was required on my system and im sure that the scanimage dependency is required for this tool. For me i have set media-gfx for this package at my private tree as xsane and sane is placed there.
Created attachment 107585 [details] gscan2pdf-0.9.0.ebuild Here's the latest plus: - ocr useflag - works for me on amd64 - no need for src_unpack - add tiff dependency and a few others
Created attachment 107668 [details] gscan2pdf-0.9.0.ebuild Also needs imagemagick (but breaks tiff2pdf if Q16 without the patch below) for rotation; xdg-utils for send as email. Option for scanadf which comes from sane-frontends. Use perl-app.eclass.
Created attachment 107669 [details, diff] gscan2pdf-0.9.0-mogrify-depth8.patch
Version 0.9.1 of gscan2pdf has been released, see: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=174140 This release fixes a problem with 0.9.0 being unable to select the frontend (i.e. scanimage vs. scanadf) correctly. I was unable to use 0.9.0 for that reason. I renamed the 0.9.0 ebuild and recompiled with no problems. I didn't include the morgrify patch since I wasn't sure it was (still) needed. This is a really excellent application for anyone doing scans of text. I was able to use it yesterday to scan a 300+ page manuscript, export each chapter as one multi-page pdf, and then save the whole text as a tiff. The app certainly simplified this task! I hope gscan2pdf will be considered for inclusion in portage.
The mogrify patch is required for image rotation in 0.9.1 with Q16, but there is a fix in the project CVS. The 0.9.0 patch applies fine to 0.9.1.
Created attachment 109863 [details] gscan2pdf-0.9.3.ebuild Here's the latest version, with an option to pull in unpaper (attached below)
Created attachment 109864 [details] unpaper-0.2.ebuild
Created attachment 120685 [details] new ebuild with PDF use-flag The same ebuild as above plus PDF-use-flag which makes it depend on another perl library used for creating the pdf files from scaned images.
Created attachment 129232 [details] gscan2pdf-0.9.16.ebuild Hi, here's an updated ebuild for media-gfx/gscan2pdf-0.9.16. This ebuild enables optional support for OCR with app-text/tesseract in addition app-text/gocr, which works really nicely for me. The OCR output is available for cut and paste if desired, but it will also be attached as an annotation when exporting to pdf. This means that these pdfs can be indexed and searched. It's an excellent feature. Djvu files are now supported, as well. Here's a summary of the changes I've made to the ebuild: USE flags: pdf: removed because dev-perl/PDF-API2 is not optional as per gscan2pdf documentation doc: added because dev-perl/Gtk2-Ex-PodViewer (+ dependencies) is optional, CLI help is still available with -doc ocr: removed, or rather, split into two new flags, gocr and tesseract djvu: added RDEPEND: added some versioning as per gscan2pdf documentation added dev-perl/Gtk2-Ex-Simple-List and dev-perl/Locale-gettext -they were pulled in by Gtk2-Ex-PodViewer which is optional now ewarn: added message to indicate that pdf to email with xdg-utils doesn't work with thunderbird Note that the mogrify patch isn't needed anymore, see: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1640461&group_id=174140&atid=868100 It is possible to get multi-language OCR for any LINGUAS that tesseract supports (tested with English and French), but it is necessary to add "TESSDATA_PREFIX=/usr/share/" to the system or user environment. Without this variable, gscan2pdf won't find the tesseract language files even if they are installed in the standard directory. I havn't added any doenvd for this because I'm not sure how to make it conditional so that it only happens for USE=tesseract. In order to save to djvu, use the File menu. There's no toolbar button yet. Finally, the unpaper USE flag doesn't work right now because there is no working ebuild for unpaper. See https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172958 I'm using the precompiled binary found in the unpaper distfile, which is not a very good solution. But unpaper can really improves the quality of scanned paper images, so... Anyway, I hope gscan2pdf will be as useful for other Gentoo users as it is for me. :)
the ebuild needs dev/perl/config-general parser module
Created attachment 161323 [details] TENTATIVE AND INCOMPLETE ebuild for gscan2pdf-0.9.25 It's been a LONG TIME since this bug has seen any action. This is a good package and deserves to be dignified with a working ebuild. I cannot offer that, in its entirety; but I can report that by editing the previous ebuild I was able to install. I was able to install gscan2pdf on amd64 using this ebuild, but several required packages were unavailable. unpaper was not available, notably. A perl gtkimagview module was a significant need. I had to manually install several of the packages, so this is not ready for prime time. Perhaps someone can offer suggestions how I can get this and other packages into some at least tentative state. I was able to scan, but while upgrading my system this ability was tentatively lost. Great program.
Created attachment 164146 [details] Gscan2pdf 0.9.26 preliminary ebuild This and the previous tentative ebuild I submitted need work. Gscan2pdf does install; the various dependencies and enhancements, however, need to be worked out by someone else, or I will be glad to do it with the assistance of a knowledgeable mentor.
Created attachment 164176 [details] an ebuild for dev-perl/gtk2-imageview-0.04 gtkimageview is available at bug #192239 (only reporter or assignee can actually set the dependency on the bug).

This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the main tree. Heuristics show that no Gentoo developer has commented on your ebuild. Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time. Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Jeremy.
