After emerge -Du openoffice version 2 is being installed - but leaves all files of the previous version on the system. Because the are installed within the same directories it is hard to delete them manually. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge -Du openoffice 2. 3. Actual Results: All files of version 1.1.4 still there. Expected Results: Delete the previous version. It is not possible to do emerge -C =openoffice/openoffice-1.1.4-r1 . So if i did not do "equery files openoffice" before emerging verson 2 it will possibly be unsure if after the update a. locate openoffice > all b. locate OpenOffice >> all c. equery files openoffice > new d. all - new = files of 1.1.4 is the correct result.
> It is not possible to do emerge -C =openoffice/openoffice-1.1.4-r1 . Uhh why not? Is emerge reporting an error here? You should be able to un-merge openoffice-1.X and have no issues. There is no reason for OO.o 2.0 to unmerge 1.0, they are slotted and can co- exist fine. If there is a problem with emerge and unmerging 1.X please change the summary and re-open the bug.

Reopen.
1) Works here, old version gets uninstalled fine, they are both in the same slot, keeping two versions makes no sense 2) openoffice 1.1.4 and openoffice 2.0.0 are NOT in the same directory 3) This bug report makes no sense at all, things like point 2 are plain wrong. You either modified the ebuild or did not install all versions through the ebuild. Closing.
