I am having problems with GDM. After typing in my password, I get a little message box saying authentication error. I have reason to believe the password prompt has vanished, because when I try to configure GDM, a password prompt never appears. I've recompiled several times. I use USE="X gtk gnome -alsa -kde -arts tcltk python perl opengl jpeg png truetype mmx sse -3dnow cdr bonobo gb ssl mozilla java samba mule cups cdr dga pdf truetype" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}" I've emerge -e world twice already and I am getting impatient.
