The GWN reminds me that there are these nice little helpers called "search plugins" http://www.gentoo.org/news/en/gwn/20050117-newsletter.xml#doc_chap8_sect1
What i would like to see is to merge it into the firefox ebuilds, like the debian people already do with their builds of firefox.

Jan: Gentoo's policy is not to do any branding or to perform similar changes. Also mozilla.org doesn't allow to use the official name for their products, if you modify them. This comes into play for the binary packages. Don't know how the mozilla herd thinks about it.

i can understand that point and will add it myself if the mozilla herd doesnt like the idea too.
