Description Tristan Sloughter 2005-01-13 09:40:09 UTC
Here is an upgrade for tilda, tilda-0.03. This version include many major bug fixes that make tilda ready for all desktop users. Also included are many major feature enhancements, the biggest being no more need for the devilspie dependency. Tilda now supports many more commandline arguments described via "tilda -h".

However, tilda -C must be run again in order for the new tilda config file to take over.

Major feature enhancements are found in this release. Tilda now does not have
the dependency on xbindkeys since it listens for the key presses on its own,
this caused a major increase in speed. Tilda also can now edit its preferences
on the fly with the added right click context menu. Each tilda instance also now
has its own individual config file.

This is currently masked due to:

# Aaron Walker <ka0ttic@gentoo.org> (18 Mar 2005)
# buffer overflows galore; pending removal.
x11-terms/tilda

I'm a developer of tilda. My first contribution to the project was to eliminate
the buffer overflows. I'm confident that there's none left now, but if there
are please let me know so that I can fix them. (Just source file and line
number, I'll work out fixes myself)

Anyway, this should not be a reason to keep tilda out of the tree any longer,
since it has been fixed upstream.
Comment 8 Todd Walton 2005-07-09 22:58:59 UTC
I would like to have tilda, and it would be nice to have it from Portage. Can
we get .07 or have .02 removed from Portage?

tilda-0.08.1.ebuild (UPGRADE)

.08.1:

This is a minor release which removes compiler warning given when compiling
with gcc4, fixes the scrollbar not showing up on new tabs problem. Now all tabs
have the same preferences, even when you change preferences of one while tilda
is running. Plus other minor bug fixes and code cleanups.

.08:

Added tabs, fixed gthread bug, maybe fixed focus problem, fixed gnu-screen
problem and on and on and on.

PLEASE, if you don't want to test and accept this into portage then for my
sake, the rest of the developers and users remove .02 from portage.
Comment 10 John Hampton 2005-08-27 18:27:13 UTC
just wanted to add a "works for me". I just installed 0.08.1 and it is working
nicely. I'd love to see it added to the tree.
Comment 11 Andrey Falko 2005-09-16 16:38:25 UTC
I love this program, I am surprised that it is not updated in Portage.

Thank you so much for creating up to date ebuilds for this.

Comment 14 Joel 2005-10-04 17:01:58 UTC
Using 0.09.1 without a hitch. Great program.
Comment 15 Lau 2005-10-21 02:00:44 UTC
I'd love to use this program, but unmasking it and using version 0.02 is a bit
buggy. Will then new version soon be available in portage?
Comment 16 Tristan Sloughter 2005-10-21 08:49:24 UTC
I'd suggest going to http://tilda.sf.net and getting the most recent Tilda.
Also, the ebuild attached above works great. Just put it in
/usr/local/portage/x11-terms and add PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" to
your /etc/make.conf and you can easily emerge it. .02 is a piece and should not
be used. I have no idea why they will not accept my new version into portage,
its just crazy.

Tristan,

How have you attempted to communicate to the Gentoo devs about bumping for the
new version in portage (other than this bug report)? It seems that the devs have
no idea that this wonderful project exists. Perhaps there may be a way that a
user such as myself may attempt to grab a dev's attention?
Comment 18 Steev Klimaszewski (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-30 20:43:01 UTC
The dev's are aware - I talked to ka0ttic, who looked over 0.09.1 and said it
was decent, but since Stuart is listed as the maintainer, unfortunately, at the
present time, he is the only one who can do the bump. I use tilda every time I
login to X, and am very aware of it. I have tried to ping Stuart on irc, but
haven't been able to get ahold of him yet.

sweet! Thanks everyone for your comments, it took awhile but it finally
happened, haha.

Thank you for reporting, and I do apologize for how long it has taken me to do the bump. In the tree now, give it about 2 hours and sync.
