Missing ebuild thx for helping. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I'm working on this. The ebuild is easy to adapt from the skype-0.92.0.12. But i need some time to look at the skype forums to see what are the issues with this version.
Created attachment 46614 [details] Ebuild working with new Skype Here is my ebuild for Skype v0.93.0.3
Created attachment 46617 [details] Update to the wrapper script This updated wrapper script redirects Skype output to a logfile ~/.Skype/skype.log. In addition, it allows to ignore running sound-daemons if skype wrapper script is called with "oss" argument.
line 13 has an extra quote. it should be qt? ( http://download.skype.com/linux/${PN}-${PV}.tar.bz2 )
there skype-avatars-1.0.tgz does not exist in that url
Created attachment 46791 [details] skype-0.93.0.3.ebuild (few changes) Hi! I only make little changes: - langpacks are now isntalled according to the LINguAS variable - declaration of S=... in not needed Regards, Przemek
Can you please attach diff's instead of full ebuilds? It is easier to track changes then. diff -u oldfile newfile > ebuild.diff
Sure - no problem. You wany one for this version of ebuild, too? Regards, Przemek
I am working on adding the bug 71946 issues to this release. Also i am making some changes to the wrapper script to use the --resources-path, this will also mean that older releases will have to be removed from portage. I hope to have some news some time latter today.
Please test the version on portage and report here. I do not use arts or esd so i cannot test that.
Ups, forgot to upload the Avatar collection. (It's the avatars from Windows version packaged to make them available to Linux users) This is fixed now I didn't get informed earlier as no email reached me for this bug
The reduced amount of language files installed does not change the choice in Skype, so if you just install "skype_en.qm" you will still get all the other languages listed in "Tools" -> "Select Language", but get English displayed for all other languages. So until Skype only displays available languages in the Tools menu, you should better install all language files! (Otherwise people will complain about bad languages)
I will be commiting a -r1 version soon with the extra avatars and installing all the languagues. Bruno: I need info on where did you get those avatars. Also I did a copy of the tgz to another server, i dont trust those free isp's, they tend to cut the plug if the requests are to high :) .
Gustavo: I just collected the Avatars distributed with the Windows version of Skype (1.0.0.106), that is installed the Windows version and tared the avatars installed to "My Documents\My Skype Pictures". Did not check if this is allowed by Skype license, if needed we migh ask Terminus! For the ISP, might be, never got high load to it :)

(Otherwise people will complain about bad >languages) Yeah.... sorry for this - my mistake. I found that `error`. I will send an email request for skype devs, since I do not see the point of having 20 langpacks in my system, that I will never use them... Regards, Przemek
Hm... I think there is a little problem with the langpacks in skype 0.93.0.3... Selecting any other language than english does not actually change the language. limbo root # ls /opt/skype/lang/ skype_da.qm skype_es.qm skype_iw.qm skype_pl.qm skype_zh_CN.qm skype_de.qm skype_et.qm skype_ja.qm skype_pt_BR.qm skype_zh_TW.qm skype_el.qm skype_fi.qm skype_ko.qm skype_ro.qm skype_en.qm skype_fr.qm skype_nl.qm skype_ru.qm skype_es_AR.qm skype_it.qm skype_no.qm skype_sv.qm As you can see, all language packs are present.
Created attachment 47194 [details, diff] Changes so avatars get installed The skype-0.93.0.3-r1 ebuild does just download the avatars without installing them. Diff to skype-0.93.0.3-r1.ebuild that installs the avatars.
Created attachment 47195 [details, diff] Fix for resource-path & cosmetics The issue with the resources not found is caused by Skype being run with "/opt/skype/skype.bin --resources-path=/opt/skype/" where Skype expects "/opt/skype/skype.bin --resources-path /opt/skype/" This patch fixes this issue, and additionally adds the Skype commandline to the logfile. (for easier error-detection based on Skype log!)
Created attachment 47198 [details, diff] Changes so avatars get installed Fixes a missing "cd ${P}" before extracting the avatars, so that the install code can find the avatars. (diff is still against skype-0.93.0.3-r1.ebuild)
Thanks for the attention Bruno. In cvs now.
Sorry for closing this witought some final words. Thanks to all that helped here. In particular to Bruno. I think now the attention can go to the problems reported in 65042 with gcc 3.4.*
