I can't read your mind - so I readded the blocker (as explained in the other bug) because I could not build a dependency.

Please let me know what you're thinking so we can talk things out.
Comment 6 Andreas Sturmlechner gentoo-dev 2020-11-08 16:16:13 UTC
I'm no stranger to long bugzilla dependency chains myself, but I consider a build failure of a dependency of a dependency an invalid blocker. You can comment why you are unable to proceed at the time, but some other member of ~arm64 team may very well be able to do so.

I don't know how long it will take Qt proj to fix it, so this being a tangential blocker to bug 753242 I prefer this bug not being held up by a build failure in an indirect dependency of kdevelop-php.

It _is_ a dodgy blocker and I'd feel frustrated if someone added it to one of my bugs. On the other hand, we both know I'm the one doing the keywording, and practically speaking, that was the thing stopping me doing it.

I'm confident you know by now that I don't make stuff in the way for no reason and I go out of my way to fix things just because they're broken, even if they're not "my job", so this was on my list to figure out anyway. :)

I'm glad it turns out it's USE-conditional anyway so it can be masked, I just didn't realise that or I would have proposed it.

I completely agree with the logic, I just wish you'd said rather than removing the blocker silently - I couldn't know that's what you were thinking.

Thanks!
