As per $summary, with guile-2.2 (which Gentoo patches in "support" for), nearly every menu in the gschem GUI opens the About window rather than doing what the user expects. Downgrading to guile-2.0.14-r3 (and rebuilding geda) solves this. To quickly reproduce, start gschem with an empty document and hit 'f' 's' which should open the save dialog.

Did this get resolved in or did you find a workoround with guile-2.2? I can confirm it's still happening with guile-2.2.7 and geda-1.9.2-r1. However, other software (like gnucash) depend on >=guile-2.2.
I too can confirm this bug. dev-scheme/guile-2.2.7 sci-electronics/geda-1.9.2-r1 Src-package http://ftp.geda-project.org/geda-gaf/stable/v1.10/1.10.2/geda-gaf-1.10.2.tar.gz compiled with ./configure --prefix=${HOME}/gedainst/ && make && make install does NOT exhibit this bugs.
