both =sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-4.14.8-r1 and sys-kernel/genkernel-3.4.52.4-r2 are latest stable versions in tree at the moment

maybe i got this wrong, but using sys-kernel/genkernel-3.5.1.1 fixes the issue

all the builds itself run smooth, but the compile of the kernel fails, so i attached the /var/log/genkernel.log
