Description Michael Palimaka (kensington) gentoo-dev 2017-06-04 07:44:49 UTC
sci-chemistry/ball depends on dev-qt/qtwebkit:4 which is ancient and will never see any security updates.

If it's not possible to disable this and there's no upstream port available, it might be time to consider removing this package.

No upstream release for years. Happy to see this being dropped.
Comment 2 Michael Palimaka (kensington) gentoo-dev 2017-06-04 08:18:29 UTC
Looking into this a bit further, qtwebkit is never actually used, and in fact was already dropped but the dependency was actually specified twice:
https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/sci-chemistry/ball/ball-1.4.2-r1.ebuild?id=0947afa365abf88670172058186a1ff22de84a07

So I dropped the duplicate:
https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=ba5d8019e4133db35d0b4b4d04b9248af246f80f

I see recent activity in upstream git master, so maybe there's hope for the future still.
