Comment 4 N. Andrew Walsh 2016-10-09 11:53:25 UTC
please, can you clarify something? While this version (ie, 2.7_beta11) is broken (and has been for years), the live ebuild that's part of the 'stefantalpalaru' overlay *does* work (at least with my ffmpeg-2.8.8).

Are you sure that all versions of electricsheep are broken? Because while the 2.7 version is certainly dead (and upstream has been moving the code among a bunch of different repositories in the meantime, apparently landing at github), the 9999 version that builds off of recent sources seems to be doing fine.

Is this going to break with ffmpeg-3.*?
Comment 5 N. Andrew Walsh 2016-10-09 11:53:55 UTC
PS the live ebuild is at bug 339463.
Comment 6 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2016-10-09 12:20:02 UTC
This has no maintainer and nobody will take care of updating the live ebuild and take regular snapshots from upstream. I think the best you can do is to rely in that overlay providing (and taking care) of maintaining that live ebuild you are using
Comment 7 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2016-10-09 12:22:30 UTC
Also, you are trying with ffmpeg-2.8, this is a with newer versions, and looking to upstream git repo without any recent commit, I guess it will also be broken in the same way
