When tried to use Apache 2.2, mod_proxy_fcgi and PHP-FPM applications behave improperly due to invalid values of following crucial $_SERVER (variable used by PHP) values: - "PHP_SELF" - "SCRIPT_NAME" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Make sure you have Apache 2.2 installed, PHP version should not matter (mine was 5.6.9) as long as you have "fpm" USE flag enabled, 2. Unmask and install www-apache/mod_proxy_fcgi 3. Start php-fpm using init script 4. Create new virtual host for Apache and make it use ProxyPassMatch directive like so: ProxyPassMatch ^/(.*\.php(/.*)?)$ fcgi://127.0.0.1:9000/your/new/vhost/document_root/$1 5. Reload Apache configuration 6. Under DocumentRoot of new VirtualHost create new "index.php" file printing out whole $_SERVER variable: print_r($_SERVER) 7. Check values of "PHP_SELF" and "SCRIPT_NAME" Actual Results: [SCRIPT_NAME] => (empty value) [PHP_SELF] => /your/new/vhost/document_root/index.php Expected Results: [SCRIPT_NAME] => /index.php [PHP_SELF] => /index.php I have actually solved this issue by compiling and using latest version of "mod_proxy_fcgi" from: https://github.com/ceph/mod-proxy-fcgi To fix the bug it might be as easy as
