Some maintainers do not appreciate zero day version bumps.

I've got the email yesterday, so you'll have to give me a few hours to do the bump and run he tests.

Well, as usual, Brian got to it before me, so it's already done in the overlay[1].

Yeah, I know, my mistake and I apologize for that.

Thanks to Jorge, the ebuild is already in the overlay.

One of the reasons I opened a 0-day bug maybe could the long process of stabilizing MariaDB and making it the default for the 5.5 branch. I left a comment the other day in the corresponding bug (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=474800#c9) but noone replied. I know that most (if not all) Gentoo devs are doing this in their free time, but there's got to be some progress, at least for bugs they open themselves. I am not qualified to be a Gentoo developer myself, if I could, I would try to pursue it, but I try to help with bug reports, localization (some time ago), etc. I also have donated to the project in the past, have you considered organizing a big donation (like the ones Wikipedia runs every year) to fund people to work full time (at least for a few weeks or so)? I would be much willing to help and I'm sure others would be too.

Sorry for the long (off-topic) comment. Thank you anyway.

Thank Brian as he did the work ;-)

Yes, unfortunately the move to mariadb as the default and stabilization of 5.5 has been taking way too long. I'm definitely to blame for that as I've started working on this and then moved to some other stuff a few times already.
I've already worked on some other issues for 5.5 the past 2 weeks and got a new mysql-extras tarball out that finally "fixes" the lib issue - one of the pending issues that was in part responsible for me losing "momentum" the last time.
I need to have a talk with Robin and Brian so we need to make a few decisions that have been left pending and we need to do a review of some work so we can finally push pending work in the overlay to the tree. That will open up the path to stabilization.

All help is welcome. I'm not the correct person to address donations and or other venues to help. I suggest contacting Trustees about it.

An off-topic comment (only partially) here and there is something we can live with ;-). Thank you for your support and patience and my apologies for the work not being as smooth or as quick as I would like it to be.
