It duplicates part of the functionality of gnome2.eclass. For its src_install phase, if we really need its examples handling (and that cannot be moved to gnome2.eclass), I would simply do the examples thing and, then, call gnome2_src_install. This would allow to drop the CLUTTER_LA_PUNT stuff, the docs handling...

clutter-gst-2.0.12 is the last consumer... once the .14 version is stabilized we will be able to kill it

Nothing is using this anymore... can we simply remove it or... do you remember the steps and times for finally killing this? :/
I think the eclass must receive a @DEPRECATED tag for a while, let's say 30 days, then remove it. I think the regular workflow though is to mark the eclass deprecated first, then work on fixing its users, then it can be removed right away since it is saved in ebuilds envs.
