Near the end of emerging net-dialup/capisuite-0.4.5-r7, there are many messages like [...] * Removing unnecessary /usr/share/capisuite/16.la (no static archive) * Removing unnecessary /usr/share/capisuite/beep.la (no static archive) * Removing unnecessary /usr/share/capisuite/19.la (no static archive) * Removing unnecessary /usr/share/capisuite/6.la (no static archive) * Removing unnecessary /usr/share/capisuite/90.la (no static archive) * Removing unnecessary /usr/share/capisuite/fernabfrage-aktiv.la (no static archive) [...] Unfortunately, those .la files have nothing to do with archives and/or linking in any way, but are the (A-Law) sound files for the answering machine. So the answering machine cannot play any sound files and just hangs up when a file is not found - most important "beep.la": If you have an own announcement telling the caller "please leave a message after the beep", the beep.la file is not found, and capisuite just hangs up (instead of recording a message). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge =net-dialup/capisuite-0.4.5-r7 2. configure some answering machine 3. try to leave a message Actual Results: /usr/share/capisuite is empty after emerging. capisuite hangs up the phone call when any sound file from there is not found. Expected Results: Many sound files (*.la) should reside in /usr/share/capisuite. Recording (and other features) is only possible with those sound files. Workaround: While emerging, unpack the .gz file from the distdir manually and copy all *.la files from scripts/waves to /usr/share/capisuite after emerge has finished.
