Please find the necessary changes wrt 6.4.2 attached.
Upstream labels 6.4.3_rc2 stable, so suggesting to keyword this amd64 x86 right away. Fixes bug #466386
Obsoletes the patch set to support ffmpeg in favor of sed, just fixing include locations suffices, see attached patch.
Thanks for bumping.

whole ebuild, result of patching 6.4.2 ebuild
Just reminding 6.4.3 is out since July!
Hi all there!
I'm another one with problems building 6.4.2 with gcc-4.7.3.
But I think it doesn't make sense to post those problems here, because fixing all of those related bugs will be more to do, then creating the new ebuild I think.
And it seems as if all of those who felt responsible for this package are out of the scene now. No problem! Me and most others know, that one can't earn money or anything else here.
But to give a short sign of life would be a form of politeness to all people, creating bug reports here.
Is anyone here, who can clearify the situation, even if just saying the work needs some time, because of ...?
Thanks very much and again: I don't want to push anyone into work! - But not to know what happens behind the scenes will stop anyone else to get active!
It does not look like there is much activity on grass, but I thought I'd add my two bits.
This patched ebuild improves things for me, but grass will still not emerge without manual intervention. To get it on my system, I have to get it to include tinfo library. I have not yet built a patch to do that.
it's not a burning problem for me. I'm just playing around with some different gis-packages, because I want to get some background info around all this.
I'm able to program a bit in a few different languages, but I've rather little experience with patches and ebuilds. It's just enough to get a little thought of what should happen or to add or change a few lines, when I get such a file in front of my eyes.
I looked into this ebuild just now, but it is far to big for me in the moment, to stumble in just for fun. I'll learn at some smaller problems first and possibly come back.
Thanks for your answer!
One more tidbit. installed the attached ebuild on several machines and not all of them had the libtinfo problem. Something else to keep in mind if/when you dig in.

ebuild for 6.4.3
Here's an ebuild for 6.4.3 (not a release candidate) that built without intervention. I had to bump it myself because 6.4.2 wouldn't build on my system for reasons I didn't have time to track down. My USE flags were:
USE="cairo cxx fftw gmath jpeg png python tiff truetype -X -debug -ffmpeg -motif -mysql -nls -odbc -opengl -postgres -readline -sqlite -wxwidgets"

Closing as OBSOLETE - sci-geosciences/grass-7.0.1 has been added to the tree as per bug 514514 and subsequently revbumped. Note that sci-geosciences/grass:6 has been masked and will be removed from the tree in the coming weeks.
