Description Jakub Caban 2013-02-06 17:58:51 UTC
In versions up to 4.10.0 (I mean <= 4.9.98 which I've tested) I had no problems with my IMAP account. Upon upgrade to 4.10.0 my company e-mail account got completely broken.

Upon starting KMail I got information "Resource WhyBlack is broken. This resource is now offline".

Trying to reconfigure resource hangs on auto-detecting connection settings and Server info window is blank. In Akonadi configure I got information:

"Could not connect to the IMAP server. Could not test the capabilities supported by the IMAP server. Connection to server lost".

Going through http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/PIM/Akonadi/Debug_IMAP I got two empty log files named imap.log.27343.1 and imap.log.27343.2

On the server side I have gentoo server with dovecot-2.1.13. In the /var/log/dovecot I got lines:

Feb 6 18:46:28 fb dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<kuba>, method=PLAIN, rip=81.190.221.138, lip=37.59.1.137, mpid=19190, TLS: Disconnected, session=<5WPg5xHVtwBRvt2K>
Feb 6 18:46:28 fb dovecot: imap(kuba): Connection closed in=0 out=325
Feb 6 18:54:05 fb dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<kuba>, method=PLAIN, rip=81.190.221.138, lip=37.59.1.137, mpid=19615, TLS: Disconnected, session=<CYEhAxLVEgBRvt2K>
Feb 6 18:54:05 fb dovecot: imap(kuba): Connection closed in=0 out=325
Feb 6 18:54:36 fb dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<kuba>, method=PLAIN, rip=81.190.221.138, lip=37.59.1.137, mpid=19636, TLS: Disconnected, session=<n0TzBBLVFgBRvt2K>
Feb 6 18:54:36 fb dovecot: imap(kuba): Connection closed in=0 out=325

I can gladly provide any more details needed.

PS: Also creating new IMAP resource with the same server (which URL is fb.whyblack.pl for mail purposes) fails on any attemp to communicate with the server.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade KDE to 4.10.0
2. Run KMail
3.
Actual Results:
IMAP resource broken

Expected Results:
Working e-mail account

I've seen the same issue here, so let me take a guess:
You recently upgraded openssl to 1.0.1d? Downgrading it helps.
Comment 2 Jakub Caban 2013-02-07 22:19:03 UTC
I totally confirm.

downgrading openssl to dev-libs/openssl-1.0.1c is a wroking workaround.
Comment 3 Jakub Caban 2013-02-08 12:26:10 UTC
dev-libs/openssl-1.0.1d-r1 also solves the problem
Comment 4 Michael Palimaka (kensington) gentoo-dev 2013-02-08 12:34:12 UTC
Thanks for testing and the feedback.
