I've discovered, that net-print/cups-1.6.1 missed almost all translations (both for cli and web-interface) in ebuild and in the tarball. Is it upstream bug, or "just as planned"? Reproducible: Always
The ebuild appears to assume that if LINGUAS is unset, no locales should be installed.
Two different issues here: * 1.6.1 is indeed missing many translations. Cannot do anything about this, 1.6.2 has some more again. * The ebuild appears to assume that if LINGUAS is unset, no locales should be installed. Is fixed in 1.6.2.

Why you removed russian from cups-1.5.2-r4.ebuild? Now these files are not installed: /usr/share/cups/html/ru/index.html /usr/share/cups/templates/ru/* /usr/share/locale/ru/cups_ru.po http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/net-print/cups/cups-1.5.2-r4.ebuild?r1=1.18&r2=1.19
