Target changed from -r2 to -r3. Please test and mark stable: =sys-fs/udev-197-r3 =sys-apps/kmod-12-r1 =virtual/udev-197 =sys-fs/udev-init-scripts-19
amd64 stable. Thanks to everyone who tested this (outside from this bug).
x86 stable
Target for udev-init-scripts changed from -r0 to -r1. The change went stable for amd64/x86 since they already did this bug. It fixes a small problem with udev restarting, it skips symlinks of systemd-udevd now. Please test and mark stable: =sys-fs/udev-197-r3 =sys-apps/kmod-12-r1 =virtual/udev-197 =sys-fs/udev-init-scripts-19-r1
I tested this on my arm system at the request of ago and the results are as follows: Reboot after the update (including emerge @preserved-rebuild etc) failed in some unexpected way. I told it to reboot and it lost network and never regained network connectivity. After a manual power cycle the device is up, running, and seems fully functional and none the worse for wear. I have NO idea what prevented the reboot as the device has no screen and I don't have serial connected. Hope that helps.
ppc stable
Sorry amd64/ppc and x86, please do the updated packages reusing this bug. Thanks! =sys-fs/udev-197-r4 =sys-apps/kmod-12-r1 =virtual/udev-197 =sys-fs/sys-fs/udev-init-scripts-22
