Tracker bug for problems with libGLU being split out of Mesa and into its own project. Unfortunately, we don't have a 'glu' USE flag for Mesa, but it doesn't look like there is much software that depends on media-libs/mesa directly that needs libGLU.
I'm running ~amd64 system with mesa-9999, doing revdep-rebuild found these packages on my system need libGLU: x11-libs/gtkglext media-gfx/tachyon media-libs/ftgl media-libs/jasper media-libs/libcaca sci-astronomy/stellarium sci-mathematics/octave sci-visualization/qtiplot sci-chemistry/pymol media-libs/smpeg x11-misc/fireflies games-action/extreme-tuxracer sci-chemistry/vmd sci-chemistry/wxmacmolplt sci-chemistry/avogadro sci-chemistry/ghemical media-gfx/blender media-tv/xbmc sci-astronomy/celestia x11-misc/virtualgl app-office/libreoffice
Now that glu has been split I'm finding I get a block with app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-opengl.... # emerge -uDNa @world These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done!
