This has been rather frustrating and I have probably made a hash of my kernel trying different configurations and modules bases on different forum reports. I've read through and used the official Gentoo Broadcom documentation, an unofficial wiki, the documentation on the Broadcom site and some stuff from Archlinux and Debian sits on how to install this driver. I feel close but can't quite figure it out. I cannot get the wireless to work. Wireless light stays on. There seems to be some kernel interaction with a usb Broadcom device. # dmesg [342802.630279] usb 4-1: skipped 1 descriptor after interface [342802.632248] usb 4-1: default language 0x0409 [342802.638224] usb 4-1: udev 6, busnum 4, minor = 389 [342802.638228] usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0a5c, idProduct=21e3 [342802.638231] usb 4-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3 [342802.638235] usb 4-1: Product: BCM20702A0 [342802.638238] usb 4-1: Manufacturer: Broadcom Corp [342802.638240] usb 4-1: SerialNumber: 9439E5C8EAC6 [342802.638338] usb 4-1: usb_probe_device [342802.638343] usb 4-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [342802.640260] usb 4-1: adding 4-1:1.0 (config #1, interface 0) [342802.640374] usb 4-1: adding 4-1:1.1 (config #1, interface 1) [342802.640435] usb 4-1: adding 4-1:1.2 (config #1, interface 2) [342802.640496] usb 4-1: adding 4-1:1.3 (config #1, interface 3) [342802.640539] drivers/usb/core/inode.c: creating file '006' [342802.640562] hub 2-0:1.0: state 7 ports 5 chg 0000 evt 0002 [342802.640617] hub 4-0:1.0: state 7 ports 5 chg 0000 evt 0002 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge broadcom-sta 2. modprobe wl 3. dmesg | grep wl Actual Results: 1. >>> Installing (1 of 1) net-wireless/broadcom-sta-5.100.82.112-r2 * Removing net-wireless/broadcom-sta-5.100.82.112-r2 from moduledb. * Updating module dependencies for 3.3.0-gentoo ... ignored deprecated option -r [ ok ] * Adding module to moduledb. >>> Auto-cleaning packages... 2. Created attachment 307301 [details] output of cat .config in /usr/src/linux A search of .config show no option named lib80211_get_crypto_ops. How do I enable this option. Nearest I have found is CONFIG_LIB80211_CRYPT_TKIP=y.
please try the latest ebuild in bug #438622.
i suppose this was resolved by migrating to series 6 of the driver. please reopen if this is not the case.
