Description Tanktalus 2012-02-28 17:39:22 UTC
Now that talloc-2.0.7 is stabilised, I can't seem to merge it. I keep getting the following error:

Checking project rules ...
Project rules pass
[ 1/15] Compiling lib/replace/replace.c
[ 2/15] Compiling lib/replace/snprintf.c
[ 3/15] Compiling lib/replace/getpass.c
Waf: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/talloc-2.0.7/work/talloc-2.0.7/bin'
Build failed:
[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/talloc-2.0.7/work/talloc-2.0.7/bin/default/lib/replace/getpass_2.d'
[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/talloc-2.0.7/work/talloc-2.0.7/bin/default/lib/replace/snprintf_2.d'

If I check that directory, I see:

# ls /var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/talloc-2.0.7/work/talloc-2.0.7/bin/default/lib/replace
getpass_2.o replace_2.d replace_2.o snprintf_2.o system test

Not sure why the build expects .d when I have .o?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge update

(I already manually removed -2.0.5 because of a blocker that didn't want to get auto-resolved, so now 2.0.7 is "N"ew instead of "U"pdate.)
Actual Results:
Will attach build.log

Expected Results:
talloc-2.0.7 merged

build.log from failure
Comment 2 Tanktalus 2012-02-28 18:55:43 UTC
Also, I get the same error from tdb:

Waf: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/tdb-1.2.9/work/tdb-1.2.9/bin'
Build failed:
[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/tdb-1.2.9/work/tdb-1.2.9/bin/default/lib/replace/snprintf_2.d'
[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/tdb-1.2.9/work/tdb-1.2.9/bin/default/lib/replace/getpass_2.d'

Probably related?
Comment 3 Roland Jax 2012-02-28 20:55:16 UTC
It builds successfully with

# MAKEOPTS="-j1 -l1" emerge -1 talloc

(tdb too)
Comment 4 Tanktalus 2012-02-28 23:24:04 UTC
Yes, adding those MAKEOPTS to /etc/portage/env/sys-libs/{talloc,tdb} help. And then a @preserved-rebuild gives me:

/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.5.3/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -ltdb

Which may be a missing symlink?

$ ls -l /usr/lib64/libtdb*
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root    15 Feb 12 10:36 /usr/lib64/ ->
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 71992 Feb 12 10:36 /usr/lib64/

Not sure if the .so file is required or not. But when I add it, net-fs/samba-3.5.11 seems to compile afterward... and then portage tells me that tdb has preserved libs again. Unmerge all three (tdb, talloc, samba), remerge, and now there's no /usr/lib64/libtdb* at all. What? And samba 3.5.11 won't install.

I'm not sure this is quite resolved :-S Maybe I need to go to a higher level of samba?

Confirming this, talloc 2.0.8. Happens only with FEATURES="distcc"
