The build log for dev-perl/Unicode-Map8-0.130.0 contains the following lines, intermixed among a huge number of cp lines:

Could not find a typemap for C type 'U16*' in Map8.xs, line 229

Remerging the package again succeeded. I guess the significant difference was a downgrade from perl-core/ExtUtils-ParseXS-3.20.0 to 2.22.06 which happened as part of the same world update which also caused the upgrade of Unicode-Map8. So perhaps a simple dependency on sane versions of that package will suffice as a fix.

See also bug #378783 about the reason for the downgrade and bug #379383 which pretty much described the above issue but declared it fixed by the (currently masked) ExtUtils-ParseXS-3.40.0. No dep on that version added, either, though.

No, i am not adding a blocker for a version not in the tree anymore.
