when boincmgr connects to localhost, the menu line is replaced with one item named fil which allows only to close the window or exit boinc. this happens in previous versions too. Reproducible: Always
Do you get any error when running from a terminal and trying to reproduce the problem? Also post "emerge --info" output

I get this too. The menus are still there, they are just hidden. Click on the "Fil" menu (Mine is just "F") and you can now use the arrow keys to access the other menus. The accelerator keys work as well.
although I use a 3rd party ebuild for boinc (7.0.25), if I resize the gui, I can see the menu fine after that.
