Note also that 3.6.17 needs to be bumped to 3.6.18. On the other hand, Firefox 4.x will receive no further updates so punting it from the tree as early as is practical would be sensible.

openrc includes the swclock service which should be able to do this.  As
root, run the following:

rc-update del hwclock boot
rc-update add swclock boot

Let me know if that works.
