Should pass all the tests. Stabilization is a little sooner than 30 days, because it was requested in bug 329499 (and it helps bug 330667). No regressions were reported that I know of.
Current stable portage blocks this newer python, doesn't it?
You're right, this has to wait for stable portage-2.1.9.
Now that portage-2.1.9 is actually going stable, we should be able to do this. Would be nice to know what's going on with bug 343853, though.

Tested on SPARC, got test failures, and tested with stable, test failures identical. Can be stabilised as the test failures are the same as the stable version (2.6.5-r3). Filed test failures as a separate bug report (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=347935)
