Description Nirbheek Chauhan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-14 14:11:29 UTC
Hello arches,

This sys-apps/hal-0.5.14-r2 fixes various bugs, and is needed due to bug 296692 now that gnome-2.28 has gone stable in bug 314899 . dang has given his thumbs up for stabilization.

Arches that have already stabilized 2.28 should do this ASAP otherwise some users will get blockers.

Thanks!

<=kde-base/solid-4.3.5 segfaults with hal-0.5.14-r2, crashing plasma-desktop, and back to console
=kde-base/solid-4.3.5-r1 doesn't crash anymore, but a) it's in ~arch b) it doesn't work at all, you will break e.g. kde-base/powerdevil

you need kde-4.4* stable for hal-0.5.14.

Any suggestions, apart from fast-stabilising KDE 4.4? :)
Comment 3 Daniel Gryniewicz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-14 22:52:57 UTC
That's the obvious solution. :P

Barring that, I'm not sure what to do. I'm not really qualified to debug issues with KDE components, and if no one else wants to figure this out and patch it, we're just going to have to wait.

Well... how about this? you all - if you run kde -
* go through the list of bugs blocking bug 313999 and help fixing
* grab the keyword file linked below, dump it in /etc/portage/package.keywords, upgrade to 4.4.4 and report (and fix?) every problem you see...

KDE is a big bunch of software... :)

Regards, a kde bugwrangler :)

It's clear we can't stable yet. Removing arches, sorry about that.
Comment 6 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-24 08:04:48 UTC
Arch's are now in CC at bug 322791... So please stabilize KDE first if you have it previously stabilized, and then hal.
