As per summary, new version has dependency over the newly-added dev-cpp/gstreamermm so please test the two and keyword, thanks!
gstreamermm marked ~x86. subtitleeditor dies like so: In file included from /usr/include/gstreamermm-0.10/gstreamermm.h:75, from main.cc:32: /usr/include/gstreamermm-0.10/gstreamermm/streamvolume.h: At global scope: /usr/include/gstreamermm-0.10/gstreamermm/streamvolume.h:91: error: 'GstStreamVolumeInterface' does not name a type In file included from /usr/include/gstreamermm-0.10/gstreamermm.h:75, from vp/gstplayer.h:26, from vp/gstplayer.cc:23: /usr/include/gstreamermm-0.10/gstreamermm/streamvolume.h:28:41: error: gst/interfaces/streamvolume.h: No such file or directory make[2]: *** [subtitleeditor-main.o] Error 1 make[2]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... Looks like gstreamermm's dependency on gstreamer is still not quite right (I tried it on an otherwise stable x86 system). Will attach the full build log.

I was able to compile media-video/subtitleeditor-0.36.0 with gstreamermm-0.10.6 on x86 without a hitch!?
Done with bug 313563. Thanks Pawel and Andreas. Closing
