Comment 1 Patrick Lauer gentoo-dev 2010-01-06 23:01:22 UTC
Quote from forums:

My clock applet has a configuration option to show local holidays and a combo to select which region the user is interested in. Unfortunately, the combo stays empty no matter what I try. Since no such bug was filed on KDE's bug site, I imagine this could be Gentoo-specific, probably tied to the fact that libkholidays was included in kdepimlibs.

I verified the installed holiday region files, they are where they should be. Anyone suffers from the same problem? Is anything else needed?
Comment 2 Toralf Förster gentoo-dev 2010-01-12 08:48:38 UTC
upstream worked out a solution : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=221497
Comment 3 urcindalo 2010-02-22 10:00:56 UTC
It still happens to me with the recent stabilized KDE 4.3.5 on amd64.

Is it possible to include the CMakeLists.txt from the trunk fix to plasma in the corresponding ebuild:

Comment 4 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2010-04-18 19:56:27 UTC
According to upstream bug, fixed in kde-4.4.
Comment 5 urcindalo 2010-07-01 08:45:54 UTC
I still suffer from the same problem after upgrading to KDE 4.4.4: no holiday entries at all in the Calendar option of Digital Clock.

What can I check? I'm completely clueless.
Thanks.

If I understand correctly, we should have in the system plasma-dataengine-calendar.desktop
But I do not have this.
May be because in ./configure of plasma-workspace -DWITH_KdepimLibs=OFF ?
(KDE PIM libraries Needed for building several plasma dataengines)
P.S. kdepimlibs installed on my system.
P.P.S. How to change -DWITH_KdepimLibs ?
P.P.P.S. Sorry for my English ;)

I was right, I deleted plasma-dataengine-calendar.desktop
in Arch Linux and reproduce this bug.
But I am not programmer, I do not know how to fix it :(

This bug should _definitely_ be reopen. It is a Gentoo specific problem, reproduceable also on KDE 4.4.5.

No USE flag for kde-base/plasma-workspace-4.4.5 seems to be related to the missing plasma-dataengine-calendar service (should pop up in /usr/share/kde4/services/).

I run 4.4.5 w/o this bug.
Comment 10 sulfinu 2010-09-11 16:34:40 UTC
Well, I also have this bug on 4.5.1 :)

Although kdepimlibs-4.5.1 installs the necessary files in /usr/share/apps/libkholidays/plan2/, the combo reached by right-clicking on the panel clock -> Digital Clock Settings -> Calendar -> Holidays has only one entry, which reads "Do not show holidays"...

Can you please write in a console something like
    equery belongs `locate plasma-dataengine-calendar`
and tell me the result?
Thanks.

No, nobody deleted anything, you and urcindalo also had a chat within a different bug report, bug #326563 ;)
I second comment #6 in there, blaming on the name and description of the USE flag "rss".
