i upgraded mplayer from .90 to v91. when using "mplayer -vo xvidix test.mpg" i get this output: ~~~~ Playing test.mpg Cache fill: 0.00% (0 bytes) MPEG-ES file format detected. VIDEO: MPEG1 320x240 (aspect 1) 25.00 fps 6553.2 kbps (819.1 kbyte/s) No vidix driver name provided, probing available ones! vo: X11 running at 1280x1024 with depth 24 and 32 bpp (":0.0" => local display) Disabling DPMS [mga] No supported cards found [mga] No supported cards found vosub_vidix: Couldn't find working VIDIX driver Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device. ~~~~~ with other options, like gl, x11,xv, it's working. from the output i guess that mplayer for some reason tries to find a matrox-card. my use flags are: "alsa dvd X emacs -esd -arts -kde -gnome" i tried it with and without "-martox" in the use-flags, with the same result. i tried the new version in the portage-tree (1.0_pre1), with the same result. i'm using su to have the permissions as normal user, but as root i've has the same problem. ########### systemdetails: Linux 2.4.20-gentoo-r7 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) Processor AuthenticAMD glibc:2.3.2-r1 gcc:2.3.2-r1 radeon 7500 xfree-dri emerged and running (module loaded) glx, dri in xfree-config -> glxgears at about 1400 xvideo is working ######### as can be seen in http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=81812 there are other people with the same problem, using a radeon 9500pro and a radeon ve (32mb) (maybe also other graphic-cards, but not mentioned in the forum) hopefully i have given you enough information to find a way to solve this problem
