Description Duncan Exon Smith 2009-08-07 18:59:30 UTC
ebuild creates a bad environment for =kde-base/kdebase-meta-3.5.10, and cannot parse it. The source of the problem seems to be a bogus 'RDEPEND' entry.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. ebuild /usr/portage/kde-base/kdebase-meta/kdebase-meta-3.5.10.ebuild clean install
2. grep -n --context=2 "declare -x RDEPEND" /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdebase-meta-3.5.10/temp/environment
3.

Actual Results:
 * checking ebuild checksums ;-) ...                                                                           [ ok ]
 * checking auxfile checksums ;-) ...                                                                          [ ok ]
 * checking miscfile checksums ;-) ...                                                                         [ ok ]

3783-declare -x R_HOME="/usr/lib64/R"

This happened during a big 'emerge -uavDN @system @world'.
 * This affects =kdebase-meta-3.5.9 as well, but not =kdebase-meta-4.3.0.
 * Every other KDE package merged fine (just installed =3.5.10 and =4.3.0... not kde-meta, but most of the kde*-meta).
 * As you can see, 'RDEPEND' is declared with only an opening quote.

handle newline immediately after start quote

If this patch is saved as /tmp/newline_after_start_quote.patch, then it can be applied as follows:

  patch /usr/lib/portage/bin/filter-bash-environment.py /tmp/newline_after_start_quote.patch
Comment 2 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2009-08-09 21:05:48 UTC
I've adjusted the RDEPEND setting in the kde-meta ebuilds to avoid this bug (don't put newline immediately after start quote).
Comment 3 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2009-08-10 00:27:23 UTC
This is fixed in 2.2_rc37.
Comment 4 Duncan Exon Smith 2009-08-10 15:38:53 UTC
It installs on my end now. Thanks.
Comment 5 Theo Chatzimichos (RETIRED) archtester gentoo-dev Security 2009-10-08 10:24:07 UTC
this seems fixed, closing. thanks
Comment 6 Arfrever Frehtes Taifersar Arahesis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-10-08 10:48:03 UTC
It isn't fixed yet in Portage 2.1.*.
Comment 7 Theo Chatzimichos (RETIRED) archtester gentoo-dev Security 2009-10-08 11:07:44 UTC
oops sorry :/
Comment 8 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2009-10-11 01:02:08 UTC
This is fixed in 2.1.7.
