The linuxtv [1] dvb-ttpci firmware is rather old but newer versions are available [2]. I have updated the ebuild to include the newest version. [1] http://www.linuxtv.org/downloads/firmware/ [2] http://www.escape-edv.de/endriss/firmware/

Some links in 2007.04.13 ebuild don't work. I updated some of this links in ebuild i proposed in bug 181908, except for the tt_budget_217g.zip file (i don't find any alternative link), and i disabled it. But my 2009.06.25 ebuild is all fetchable (if any file is missing due to not working link, is not posible to create the manifest file).
Using latest vdr-1.6, the firmware fc2624 does cause some sound glitches in life viewing (transfer mode). Going back to some older firmware makes the sound be fine again.

It seems there is no download available, I also found no replacement until now. > But my 2009.06.25 ebuild is all fetchable (if any file is missing due to not > working link, is not posible to create the manifest file). > I am currently working on a new ebuild which includes all new firmwares from the get_dvb_firmware script from git.kernel.org. Additionally it includes all firmwares mentioned in other open gentoo bugs. In your diff you are replacing the SRC_URI for the nxt2002 firmware from [1] to [2] but the current get_dvb_firmware script can not extract from the new zipfile because the md5sum does not match. At least this is the case here. [1] http://www.bbti.us/download/windows/TechniSat_DVB-PC_4_4_3_COMPACT.zip [2] http://www.bbti.us/download/windows/Technisat_DVB-PC_4_4_COMPACT.zip

What is the latest version that does not have this issue?
In the following I will attach my changes to the media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-firmware ebuild. This should fix all outstanding bugs related to it. Furthermore I used a new version for get_dvb_firmware from git.kernel.org dated 2009.07.06 and added the new firmwares from it. A few remaining issues: The tda10045 firmware has no download link known to me thus I have removed it from the ebuild. The nxt2002 firmware download link is gone and a new version is available, but the md5sum does not match anymore for the new version. New link: http://www.bbti.us/download/windows/TechniSat_DVB-PC_4_4_3_COMPACT.zip For the vp7041 firmware a new download link is available and the md5sum still matches. A diff to the current firmware extraction script is attached. This has not been reported upstream yet. According to zzam the newest dvb-ttpci firmware causes sound glitches in life viewing (transfer mode).

Yes, I just noticed that too: # Fails to fetch since June 2007 (bug #181908), that's over # two years ago. # # Removal on 2009-10-24 media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-firmware I just tried this ebuild in my overlay and it works.

Weird. Now it worked again. If this server is that unreliable, what stops us from putting it onto the gentoo mirrors?

That is the reason we cannot just bundle all needed files in a small tarball, but need that complicated ebuild to fetch the original files and extract the firmwares.

Everything should be fixed in linuxtv-dvb-firmware-2009.07.06. If you experience fetch issues for some firmwares please try again at a later time and only open a new bug if the problem remains.
The tda10045 firmware has been removed from this ebuild Please can it be readded
(In reply to comment #18) > The tda10045 firmware has been removed from this ebuild > > Please can it be readded > See comment #6. If you can provide a reliable download source I will re-add it.
I no longer have the original zip file however the firmware it self after extraction can be found here: http://www.fireburn.co.uk/dvb-fe-tda10045.fw Couldn't we keep the zip file (if we can find it) on the mirrors?

No, we can not mirror these files at all, but a link to the firmware file is okay. I can add the firmware back, but as soon as your link is no longer valid I have to remove it again.
