I have a Hauppauge WinTV Nova-T stick dvb USB receiver, that uses the usb-dib0700 chipset. I Have linuxtv-dvb-firmware-2007.04.13 package installed. The linuxtv-dvb-firmware package, installed with DVB_CARDS="usb_dib0700" provides a firmware file /lib/firmware/dvb-usb-dib0700-01.fw, but, whwn i connect the receiver to USB port, dmesg shows a firmware not found file, because is searchig for /lib/firmware/dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw firmware file. Renaming or copyng the firmware file with the new name works ok, but the REAL dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw file may be downloaded from http://www.wi-bw.tfh-wildau.de/~pboettch/home/linux-dvb-firmware/dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw Plase update the firmware file in package. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: Old firmware file available in linuxtv-dvb-firmware package Expected Results: Updated firmware file.

I updated the linuxtv-dvb-firmware-2008-05-31 proposed by kaini@inide.at in bug 225233 updating the dib0700 firmware file on it. But both ebuild have a litle bug, related to an Avermedia link that is not working. I needed to copy the manifest file in /usr/portage/media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-firmware directory to /usr/local/portage/media-tv/linuxtv-dvb-firmware/ in order to the # ebuild <ebuildfile> ebuild command to work, due to the missing http://www.avermedia.com/software/Dvbt1.3.57.6.zip file My be this file is old and it's updated?
I think the problem is the sp887x firmware. I have found another link in the Ubuntu documentation. More information see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV_Feisty_hardware_list. The direct link to the firmware-file is http://peterdamen.com/dvb-fe-sp887x.fw I hope it is the correct file, I can not test it...
Another firmware to add to the package: http://www.wi-bw.tfh-wildau.de/~pboettch/home/files/dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw The firmware can be found (along with dvb-usb-dib0700-1.10.fw) here: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV_Nova-T_500_PCI
According to the info in this page: http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-NOVA-T-Stick now the Mercurial drivers load 1.20 firmware version, but drivers in portage still loads 1.10. For use with 1.02 version, drivers needs a patch, that is rolled into Mercurial drivers after november 15 2008.
Seems that the support is included, at least, in last kernel version: In http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.6/ChangeLog-2.6.28 you find this line: V4L/DVB (9639): Make dib0700 remote control support work with firmware v1.20
Created attachment 189503 [details] Ebuild version for 2.6.28 kernels New ebuild. It installs 1.20 firmware version for Dib0700 USb devices, because after upgrade to the new 2.6.28 kernel (gentoo-sources-2.6.28_r5) it tries to load the new version and not the old 1.10 version.
Created attachment 198926 [details] New ebuild, currently fetchable.
In my system the file is downloaded correctly: http://www.lifeview.com.tw/drivers/pci_card/FlyDVB-T/Drv_2.11.02.zip May be a temporal server fail?
All firmwares mentioned here should be included in bug #275667.
Everything should be fixed in linuxtv-dvb-firmware-2009.07.06. If you experience fetch issues for some firmwares please try again at a later time and only open a new bug if the problem remains.
