Description Roman v. Gemmeren 2009-05-27 07:21:54 UTC

ever since i installed konqueror-3.5.10 it crashes if i try to open some websites, the most famous probably ebay.
If i login, it loads the site, but crashes before displaying, destroying every instance of konqueror.
This happens on x86 and x86_64 default installations and worked fine in 3.5.9.

kde-base/konqueror-3.5.10 USE="branding java kdehiddenvisibility -debug"
kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.10-r5 USE="acl alsa branding fam jpeg2k kdehiddenvisibility tiff -arts -avahi -bindist -cups -debug -doc -kerberos -legacyssl -lua -openexr -spell -utempter"

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
Konqueror crashes

Expected Results:
Display ebay-website.

I'm sorry but i'll have to close this. Crashes should be reported upstream, we can't do anything about it, but since the development of kde3 is frozen, i doubt it will be fixed. If you have a patch please reopen. thanks
Comment 4 Yann Forget 2009-10-05 09:23:43 UTC
Since Konqueror 4.x is not available on Gentoo x86_64, it is the responsibility of Gentoo that the most recent stable version works fine.

So either resolve this bug or make Konqueror 4.x available.
Konqueror crashes for this page
which is completely following W3C standards, and this is not acceptable.

Hm.. I am not really sure about that..since this problem happened to me with EVERY distribution i tested (Arch/(K)ubuntu/Debian/Mandriva), so it really is an upstream problem, meaning the kde-devs should fix it (but probably won't since kde4 has arrived).
Comment 6 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2009-10-05 11:24:33 UTC
This is an upstream issue and the KDE team (upstream and Gentoo) no longer cares about KDE3 - if anyone has a patch, we'll apply.
Comment 7 Roman v. Gemmeren 2009-10-05 13:15:04 UTC
ok, i couldn't let it rest... after applying the attached patch manually to kdelibs-3.5.10-r6 repacking && emerging it, i am able to visit
Still the table-layout is a little different from how it should look, but at least no crash anymore...
Found it somewhere debian-related...
