Just find out that the missing directory /usr/src/linux-2.6.27-gentoo-r8/arch/ppc has instead the name /usr/src/linux-2.6.27-gentoo-r8/arch/powerpc Don't know if this change has been introduced in newer versions of the kernel sources.
