Description Beetle B. 2008-10-10 22:59:28 UTC
I upgraded to sys-apps/portage-2.2_rc11. I started getting "invalid db entry" errors, but it did not state where those errors existed. I finally traced it to /var/db/pkg (invalid entry dating all the way to 2003) and deleted it.

I think Portage should at least give the location when reporting the error. It did in the past.

Reproducible: Always

Comment 1 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2008-10-11 06:36:33 UTC
Looking a the code, it seems like it should show something like this:

!!! Invalid db entry: /var/db/pkg/foo/bar

I'm not sure why the path would not be shown in some case(s). Can you tell us what the specific path was that triggered the behavior that you observed?
Comment 2 Beetle B. 2008-10-11 12:29:16 UTC
The exact error message was:

!!! Invalid db entry: /dev-gamessimgear/-0.3.3
Comment 3 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2008-10-11 18:51:47 UTC
Thanks, this is fixed in svn r11676.
Comment 4 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2008-11-02 01:01:40 UTC
This is fixed in 2.2_rc13.
