Description Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-06-05 23:08:41 UTC
Net-FreeDB is a perl module for accessing the FreeDB database. Among other things, it's used by versions >=1.4.0 of gcstar (see bug 139940).

gcstar is in the sunrise overlay and so will be dev-perl/Net-FreeDB. Perl packages don't enter the tree, unless some application depends on them. Please use the overlay or gcpan¹ for now. No need to keep an extra bug for gcstar.

I know that Net-FreeDB should go into sunrise. And I want to put it in sunrise. But by sunrise policy, I can't commit anything to sunrise unless there is a bug open for it and unless it's assigned to maintainer-wanted or maintainer-needed.

See http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise/wiki/HowToCommit

Please reassign this to maintainer-wanted@gentoo.org so I can commit the ebuild to sunrise, where it belongs.

*sigh* /me "loves" these overlays

This is now in the sunrise overlay. You can find it at:

Comment 7 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-11-18 22:37:35 UTC
@perl herd: I want to finally move gcstar from sunrise to gentoo-x86.

Do I have your approval[1] to add its dependency, Net-FreeDB-0.08 (see sunrise link above) to gentoo-x86?

[1]: perl herd approval is required by ebuild policy: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=3&chap=1
Comment 8 Torsten Veller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-11-19 09:35:27 UTC
Added to ::gentoo. Thanks.

Alexandre, can you remove it from ::sunrise?

Done (I removed it from sunrise/sunrise; it will be removed from sunrise/reviewed by a sunrise developer).

Thank you!
