Ok, thanks for letting me know. The ebuild from zugaina seems to have some flaws in it and doesn't track all dependencies.

I tried the attached ebuild (v1.1.1) and got the following access violations: --------------------------- ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY --------------------------- LOG FILE = "/var/log/sandbox/sandbox-media-video_-_gcstar-1.1.1-22835.log" open_wr: /usr/share/applications/gcstar.desktop open_wr: /usr/share/pixmaps/gcstar.png -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It compiled with an amd64 system clearly, the problem is with the install part.
I found a working ebuild here: http://chown.dk/ebuilds/app-misc/gcstar/ I don't know who made it. It was linked from the gcstar homepage.
Added app-misc/gcstar-1.1.1 ebuild to sunrise overlay (moved from media-video to app-misc because media-video is not an appropriate category for a general purpose collections app, and since alexandria is in app-misc). See http://overlays.gentoo.org/svn/proj/sunrise/reviewed/app-misc/gcstar/
