Can you attach a few files here?

/etc/sysconfig/gentoo
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
/var/log/dmesg

Also, the output of "lsmod"...

Thanks

Well, you have several options. You could fix the mouse problem, which is probably your best solution since it'll let us know exactly what you did. You could also use links from the command line, rather than trying to use the GUI.

Without more information, there's not anything that we can do.

Well, I booted it up again and while starting up there were a bunch of error messages saying it can't find /lib/modules/2.6.24-gentoo-r5/modules.deb (or something similar to that) and usbhid was one of the things it couldn't find, so that's obviously it. the gentoo forums just said it was probably a corrupt iso so I'm gonna try again. tell ya what happens.

I have the same problem but I think it's not only a mouse problem, because neither keyboard is working. I have a Logitech S510 keyboard: keyboard and mouse are both wireless and of course the receiver is atteched at USB port.
Also during my bootup I can see the error about modules.dep.

About mouse I can say that the boot assign to it a 'Macintosh emulated mouse' device at dev/input/mice, but I think the problem is USB.

I can also suppose that the problem could born from a corrupted ISO: at the site MD5 code is:

6809ddd1945dee74f8184ca6f1bcda46

where code computed from my downloaded ISO is:

2a6347db66ee9a0c8264fd0f85054b3a

I'll try to re-download the ISO.

I have downloaded LiveDVD iso from another mirror and now MD5 code is ok. I'll try with installation and then I'll post again about .dep file and keyboard+mouse not working. Unfortunately I can try not before next monday.

No problem...

Also, would you guys be able to test an ISO or two if I made them for testing various issues, such as this?

Which arch is this, also? amd64 or x86?

Hi guys! I'm sorry but also the livedvd beta2 x86 iso with MD5 correct has the same problem.
The anomaly arises when the kernel tries to load module: the first of the list is USB HID. The strange thing is that modules seem to be loaded but then appears the message about modules.dep not existent.
If you have another ISO for me it's not a problem to make a test with it.
