Net-setup eth0 doesn't see (recognize) my marvell gigabit hardware. According to the kernel .config that I found at /etc/kernel both the sky2 and skge modules should be available. Modprobing either one gives "module not found." lsmod doesn't show any net related modules. W/o internet there's no sense in continuing. Gerard. Reproducible: Always Expected Results: I expected internet to work right away or at least with net-setup.
What does 'dmesg | grep eth' show?
Also, the Installer is designed to do a networkless installation. There's 0 need for network on the LiveDVD to complete an install.
Created attachment 151472 [details] /var/log/dmesg I tried dmesg | grep 'eth' both in a console and in an xterm but get garbled characters. I used mc to copy /var/log/dmesg to my home directory. As you can see there is no ethx. Gerard.

Same problem. Gerard.
One more idea: what does 'lspci -nn|grep Eth' show?
(In reply to comment #5) > One more idea: what does 'lspci -nn|grep Eth' show? > This is what I get: 03:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8053 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller [11ab:4362] (rev 20) This is correct. On my present Gentoo install I use the sky2 module. Note that both the livedvd and cd can't connect to internet. Gerard.

I r teh gud spellar!
(In reply to comment #9) > I r teh gud spellar! > What does that mean in plain English? Gerard.
It was a joke making fun of the typo that he made in the summary.
I'm seeing this too on the i686 beta2 livedvd. On mine it appears that the modules directory "cuts out" early, with nothing after "media" ls /lib/modules/2.6.24-gentoo-r5/kernel/drivers shows (reformatted because I'm retyping it): acpi ata atm auxdisplay base block bluetooth char clocksource connector cpufreq crypto firmware hid hwmon i2c ide ieee1394 infiniband input isdn kvm leds md media and that's it. The rest of the modules directory tree seems a bit short too (there's no kernel/sound for example)

This should be fixed in 2008.0, which is now released.
