there is a plugin for pidgin available on http://www.myjobspace.co.nz/images/pidgin/ that provides access to a running skype instance via pidgin (over dbus).

it would be nice to have a skype use flag in net-im/pidgin.

I dont really see the point of that plugin.. if some other developer does, he's free to take it up

I just realized that this ebuild could be considered rude since it is using a precompiled library. But it's the quick and dirty way to getting this functionality. To compile the library pidgin Makefiles etc are needed.

for me libskype_dbus.so does not work (i have to reconnect every minute or so) but libskype.so does.

skype4pidgin-bin svn ebuild

includes skype emoticons, should run on amd64 (did not test it though)

skype4pidgin svn ebuild

build from svn sources, optionally builds dbus version (via use flag), optionally builds with nls support (via use flag), includes skype emoticons and protocol icons


it would be better to patch the makefile or use automake than calling the compiler from the ebuild
