Description Distfiles Failure Bot 2007-09-24 12:20:25 UTC
The distfiles script failed to download the following file:
* cl-smtp-20060404.1.tar.gz, 'fetcher return no uris succeeded'

There could be several reasons for this, including changed upstream
DIST-files or wrong SRC_URIs.

The Distfiles Mirroring Changes Report (see URL field) has a current list
of failed files and explanations.

The file no longer exists. The only references to it from Google are for Gentoo, and it's inability to find this file. The ebuild itself needs to be updated.

Again, 9 months. Unable to find a working distfile...I think we can remove this one.

Any objections?
Comment 3 Marijn Schouten (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-06-03 09:11:31 UTC
Yes, this will only create more work for the Common Lisp herd while we are dealing with severe understaffing.

I am unsure how it will create more work if this is removed. But I will take your word for it because I don't use these pacakges. Just trying to help out.

(same as bug 193624)

Ok. I'm volunteering to help update the ebuild if you have a working distfile
somewhere. Let me know because I couldn't find anything.

(Removing treecleaner@g.o because the maintainers want this fixed instead of
removed)

I've set RESTRICT=fetch on the ebuild since the distfile is apparently nowhere to be found.

FWIW, there appears to be a newer version available in this overlay:

cl-smtp is very much alive and well. Here's the link to the file:

http://common-lisp.net/project/cl-smtp/cl-smtp.tar.gz

A quick trip to CLiki would have cleared this up for y'all. I see that there was an update on 2010-05-05, meaning this project is very much alive and well. PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE!!! Or if you do remove it, then LEAVE IT IN THE LISP OVERLAY!!!

Is there an actively maintained alternative to cl-smtp? cl-sendmail hasn't been touched since 2007. I can't find anything current on cl-postoffice either. cl-smtp is it; don't mess with it.

I'm seeing the following message:

!!! The following installed packages are masked:
- dev-lisp/cl-smtp-20080417.1 (masked by: package.mask)
/usr/portage/profiles/package.mask:
# Diego E. Pettenò <flameeyes@gentoo.org> (26 May 2010)
# on behalf of QA team
#
# cl-smtp fails to fetch since at least September 2007
# (bug #193627); cl-pop needs the former.
#
# Removal on 2010-07-25

Thanks, I've added a 20100505.1 version bump to the tree.
Comment 8 Carlos Konstanski 2010-07-31 16:32:25 UTC
I'm still seeing the mask message. What happened to 20100505.1?
Comment 9 Stelian Ionescu 2010-07-31 17:59:46 UTC
I think zmedico forgot to remove the entry in package.mask
